Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in women worldwide and, together with colorectal cancer, is one of the two most common types of cancer in Germany. The aim of the project is to use cell culture-based biomedical basic research to develop new in vitro replacement and supplementary methods for breast and colorectal cancer research.

The aim of the project is to establish synthetic embryos, so-called embryoids, which represent a physiological and functional in vitro model of mammalian embryogenesis. The model will be used to identify harmful substances. The model is an alternative method to animal testing.
